Who are we?

Hello!

I'm Myles - a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and (soon to be) Nutrition adviser with a specialist interest in surfing and water sports rehabilitation, persistent pain and integrating lifestyle science.

Having had the privilege of growing up in Cornwall, I have garnered a deep love for the ocean, surf and outdoors. I completed my undergraduate training in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Bath before then completing my Masters of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham.

I have worked in elite youth sport under the Futures Program at Bath University as a strength and conditioning coach during my tenure there before then going onto get involved in research during my junior rotations as a physiotherapist. This culminated in the publication of my paper in the South West Clinical Schools Journal which focused on returning people in pain to their valued activities - an ethos I continue to carry forward with me today. The desire (and fundamental need) to to look at the person and not the painful joint has been a guiding light in my continued development; the Tide Physiotherapy and Health blog has been an open space where I can share my thoughts around managing pain, sports rehabilitation and lifestyle medicine and is an ever evolving canvas!

Whilst amazing, our NHS service does have its drawbacks, particularly when it comes to interdisciplinary care and thinking. My continued interest and formal training in the field of lifestyle science and health as Nutrition coach has led me to want to offer what I believe is a truly unique service for the health conscious person who loves the ocean, the surf and outdoors but may be marred by their ability to enjoy it because of pain and injury.

If this person sounds like you, then get in touch and lets get you back to doing what you love most!

See you in the surf. Myles.
